About Elemental Brass
John Gough has performed as a professional horn player in the U.S. and abroad. He most recently worked as a freelance musician and recording artist for film and video game sound tracks in the States and in Asia. He previously served as the Principal Horn of the Wuhan Philharmonic Orchestra in China, and he also performed as a guest musician with orchestras in Europe and Asia. Since moving back to the states he has continued to perform with ensembles such as the Dallas Wind Symphony, Nashville Symphony Orchestra, Colorado Springs Air Force Academy Band, Fort Worth Symphony, Colorado Symphony, and many more before going on to design and build his own line of horns and open Elemental Brass.
As a repair technician and journeyman, John pursued formal training through the CIOMIT school in Castle Rock, Colorado and spent a year working at the Houghton Custom Horns repair shop doing high level work and extensive repairs. After deciding found his own company in Nashville, TN with the pursuit of providing the best repair and fabrication experiences possible to players of all ages levels and abilities, the popularity of his services quickly outgrew the capabilities of his small in-home shop. Since then John has moved his shop and services to his home state of Colorado and built a two story structure featuring a full repair and fabrication shop and a second floor fully suited to allow players to relax and trial any horns or equipment they wish!
John’s wish is to provide an informative, inviting, and friendly atmosphere in which any player of any level can seek knowledgable advice without feeling the pressure of having to make a purchase. He puts the needs of the customer first so that their experience on their horn is the best possible. We are open and honest about the processes we implement in repairing and fabricating horns, so that customers can make informed decisions and understand what we are doing to improve their instrument!
